Each summer for the past 3 summers, Gleaners has continued to work with communities in our more rural areas to make sure that children get the meals they need during the summer months. Being away from school, where many of those in need are able to access free/reduced breakfast and lunch, can take a toll on a family’s budget that already has been stretched very thin during trying times.
Today, I am heading to Scott, Jefferson, and Jennings County with Megan and Intern Elizabeth for a tour of a few sites! Be sure to stay tuned for updates to the blog. You can also follow along on Twitter by following @GleanersFBIndy. The official hashtag for today is #SMKtour14.

A great thing happened while in Scottsburg! Megan accepted a check from the Scott County Community Foundation to help further our fight against childhood hunger.

We have great community liaison’s in Jefferson County. Jared in Hanover and Jacie in Madison do a great job coordinating volunteers and all efforts in their community.
Here is Jacie giving a quick nutrition lesson to the boys in Madison about the amount of sugar in certain drinks.
