To continue rolling with the theme of our blog’s first month – INTRODUCTIONS – I’d like to introduce you to the wide variety of volunteer opportunities here at the food bank.
First, we’d like to thank all of the volunteers who have helped us throughout the entire year!
Here is a short list of all the different activities available to volunteers:
I could list out what exactly you’d be doing while helping out with any of the above activities, but all of that information is on our website.
A special program that has just started is what this blog will highlight.
ADOPT-A-DAY in the CCSW Food Pantry!
Adopt-a-Day is a new program created by the Volunteer Team to help with manpower in our on-site food pantry. Volunteer groups vary from day to day each month, and with this new initiative, you can help make sure that the pantry will be able to run in the same way each day.
Adopt-a-Day groups consist of 4-5 volunteers that support the pantry during its normal operating hours:
- Tuesday: 8am – 1:30pm
– Wednesday: 10:30am – 4:30pm
– Thursday: 1:30pm – 7:30pm
– Saturday: 9:30am – 3:30pm
The shift can be handled in a variety of ways – the same group of volunteers help out on the same day each month, a different group helps out on your group’s day each month, the same 4-5 volunteers support the pantry for the entire shift, or you can split your shift in half and have a group of 8-10 volunteers in your group!
The CCSW Food Pantry serves almost 200 families per week. By adopting a day, you are making sure that all of these families are able to be served by keeping shelves stocked, helping clients choose the right food, and carrying food to clients’ cars who need the help.
